At 2238 hours on Christmas Day, Companies 8 (Reynoldsville VFD), 61 (HCES), Engines 51 (Mt. Clare VFD), 71, 121 (Stonewood VFD), and 111 (Spelter VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Limestone Road outside of Clarksburg. Chief 8 was the original caller advising a Working Fire and 1 patient with smoke inhalation. Engine 71 staffed with 5 personnel responded in 2 minutes with Tanker 7 staffed with 1 personnel additional following. Engine 71 arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing from the rear of a single family dwelling. Crews placed a 1 3/4” cross lay in service to the rear of the structure making an aggressive interior attack with crews from Engine 81 advancing a 2nd 1 3/4” cross lay through the front door. Crews found heavy fire throughout with extension into the attic. Tanker 7 and other units on scene supplied 71 with water with other crews assisting interior crews with opening up and ventilation. Fire suppression efforts were hampered due to frigid temperatures with the wind chill being near 0. Mt. Clare VFD Engine 53 and Squad 5 were transferred to Co. 8 while en route to the scene for the duration of the incident. 1 patient was transported to UHC via HCES with no firefighter injuries reported. After extensive overhaul and clean up, crews returned home at just after midnight.
