At 0218 hours on Saturday March 13th, Company 9 (Salem VFD/EMS), Engines 81 (Reynoldsville VFD), and 71 were alerted for a Structure Fire on Water Street in Salem. Engine 72 staffed with 5 personnel responded in 3 minutes. Enroute, HQ advised that there were now 2 structures involved and Engine 112 (Spelter VFD) was added to the assignment. Engine 91 arrived on scene with a Working Fire to find 2 structures fully involved with 1 beginning to collapse. Crews placed (3) 1 3/4” cross lays in service for a defensive attack. Engine 72 arrived on scene as 3rd due engine and proved manpower for defensive attack on the 2 structures and discovered a 3rd structure beginning to ignite. Crews extinguished the exterior fire and then forced entry to find a small amount of fire on the interior and extinguished the same saving the 3rd structure.
