At 0927 hours on Friday April 9th, Companies 7, 12 (Stonewood VFD), and Ambulance 19 (Anmoore EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries and Entrapment on Barbour Pike near T-Body Auto and the Harrison/Barbour County line. Squad 7 responded in 2 minutes with 5 personnel. Barbour Station 4 (Philippi VFD) was alerted due to the incident possibly being in Barbour County. Squad 7 and Medic 18 arrived on scene to find a 2-vehicle accident involving an SUV and Tri-Axle Coal Truck with the roadway blocked and 1 occupant entrapped in the SUV. Crews stabilized the vehicle and placed the Hurst Tools in service to remove to the drivers door. Extrication was less than 5 minutes. HealthNet 6 was placed in the air and landed in a nearby field with Philippi VFD Rescue 4 and Unit 47 and Stonewood VFD Rescue 124 assisting in patient packaging and loading as well as Station 4 also handling the LZ. The driver of the coal truck was uninjured. After roadway clean up and hazard control, units returned home by 1030 hours. Harrison County Sheriffs Department is handling the investigation.
