At 2233 hours on Thursday August 19th, Company 7, Engines 121 (Stonewood VFD), 81 (Reynoldsville VFD), and 151 (West Milford VFD) along with HCES were alerted for a Commercial Structure Fire at Country Club Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Good Hope Pike in Clarksburg, located outside of Clarksburg city limits. Engine 71 staffed with 4 personnel responded in 2 minutes with Engine 72, Squad 7, and Tanker 7 following with an additional 6 personnel close behind. Upon the initial size up, Ladder 521 (Bridgeport FD) was added to the BOX. Engines 71 and 72 were the first arriving apparatus to find a single-story commercial structure with a Working Fire to find heavy smoke showing throughout all parts of the building. Engine 71 placed a 1 3/4” cross lay in service and forced entry into the showroom area while an additional crew forced entry into the body shop area with an additional 1 3/4” cross lay. Engine 72 then laid into a nearby hydrant and laid 4” LDH directly into 71. Truck 21 (Clarksburg FD) was then added to the assignment due to the uncertainty of the severity of the fire as zero visibility hampered efforts and Spelter Engine 112 was transferred to Co. 7. The fire was located in the service garage area originating from a full size pick up truck on a mechanics lift with extension to the structure. Crews from utilized a K12 saw to gain access to the garage door and make an aggressive knock on the fire. The fire was placed under control by 2330 hours. All units remained on scene for extensive ventilation as well as salvage and overhaul. After clean up, all Co. 7 units returned home just before 0100 hours. Several vehicles inside the garage area suffered heat and smoke damage as well as the rest of the structure. No injuries were reported and the West Virginia State Fire Marshals Office is handling the investigation. We want to extend our thanks and appreciation for all of our mutual aid companies help on this incident, especially the crew of Engine 112 for assisting getting our apparatus back in service.
