At 1259 hours on Friday November 26th, Engine 71 and Tanker 11 (Spelter VFD) were alerted to assist Wallace, Folsom, and Lumberport VFDs with a Structure Fire on Big Elk Road in Wallace. Engine 71 staffed with 5 personnel responded in 2 minutes. Engine 141 arrived on scene with a Working Fire in a single-wide trailer with a large addition and all occupants out. Crews placed a 1 3/4” cross lay in service and initiated an interior attack. Engine 71 arrived on scene as 5th due engine and placed a 2nd 1 3/4” cross lay in service along with crews from Co. 11 to assist with interior attack. Faced with high heat conditions, crews located fire in multiple rooms, the walls, and running the majority of the floor beneath the trailer. Interior crews backed out for a short time to knock the fire beneath the trailer and then reentered the structure. Engine 71 and Tanker 11 both shuttled an additional load of water each. The fire was placed under control and after extensive overhaul and clean up, crews were released and returned home at 1618 hours. Harrison County EMS was on scene for standby with no patients transported. This was our 35th working structure fire for 2021.
