At 1903 hours on Sunday January 9th, Tanker 7 and Engine 71 were added to the assignment for a Working Tractor Trailer Fire on I-79 NB at the 110 mile marker in Lost Creek to assist Lost Creek VFD. Jane Lew and Stonewood VFDs were also alerted to assist. Tanker 7 and Engine 71 responded with 5 personnel in minutes. Engine 32 arrived on scene to find a heavily involved tractor trailer hauling tires off the roadway and shut down I-79 at the Lost Creek exit. Crews placed a 1 3/4” hand line in service for fire suppression. Engines 71 and 123 hit the cross over and approached the scene in the NB lanes and placed an additional hand line from each apparatus in service to assist with fire extinguishment. Tankers 3, 7, and Lewis 29 supplied units on scene with water. Multiple gallons of foam was also used. WVDOH assisted on scene with heavy equipment to assist in fully extinguishing the tires. Nicholson’s Towing and Enviroclean assisted in removing the debris and vehicle remains. Co. 7 apparatus returned home at 2206 hours.
