At 1256 hours on Saturday March 5th, Companies 7 and 12 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Brush Fire on Buckhannon Pike in Craigmoor. Engine 71, Unit 74, Engine 72, and Tanker 7 all responded with 12 total personnel. It was quickly determined a controlled burn pile became out of control and spread rapidly into heavily timbered and steep terrain. Windy and dry conditions made for enhanced fire danger. Unit 125 and Ranger 12 also responded on the initial assignment. 514 (Bridgeport FD) and B5 (Mt. Clare VFD) were quickly alerted with B3 (Lost Creek VFD), B1 (Anmoore VFD), and Rangers 5 (Mt. Clare VFD), and 11 (Spelter VFD) also being alerted to assist shortly after. Tankers 7 and 11 handled water supply and the remaining units and manpower being utilized to make fire lines and assist in extinguishment. The fire scorched just under 10 acres with the last unit returning home at 1555 hours. Anmoore EMS was on scene for standby with no injuries reported. Philippi VFD Engine 41 transferred to Co. 7 and assisted getting units back in service as Engine 72 cleared a Working Structure Fire to respond to this incident.
