At 0500 hours on Saturday June 11th, Engine 71 was alerted authority of Chief 15 to assist West Milford, Lost Creek, and Jane Lew VFDs with a Structure Fire on Good Hope Pike in Good Hope. Engine 71 staffed with 4 personnel responded in 3 minutes with Tanker 7 staffed with an additional 2 personnel following. Engine 151 arrived on scene with a Working Fire to find a single-story dwelling with heavy fire throughout. Crews placed a 1 3/4” cross lay in service and laid into a nearby hydrant for water supply. Engine 71 arrived on scene as 2nd due engine and placed an additional 1 3/4” cross lay in service. Crews from Co. 15, 71, and Lewis 21 began an interior attack before being being pulled out due to the floor beginning to collapse into the basement. After switching to a defensive attack, the bulk of the fire was knocking utilizing 151’s deck gun. Tankers 7 and 3 stood by in case addiontal water was needed but sent their manpower to assist. After overhaul and clean up, all Co. 7 apparatus returned home at 0709 hours. HCES was on scene for standby with no injuries reported. The WV State Fire Marshal will be investigating. This was our 45th call for service in June.
