3 Working Fires in 24 Hours
At 1114 hours on Friday August 5th, Engine 72 staffed with 4 personnel responded authority of Chief 15 for a Structure Fire with Possible Entrapment on Old Mill Road in the Kincheloe area near the Harrison/Lewis County line. West Milford, Jane Lew, and Jackson’s Mill VFDs along with HCES were on the initial assignment. Jackson’s Mill Engine 51 arrived on scene with a Working Fire to find a 3-story farm house with smoke showing from the 2nd floor. It was quickly downgraded to negative entrapment. Crews placed a 1 3/4” cross lay in service and held the fire to the room of origin. Engine 72 arrived on scene as 4th due and assisted with opening up; finding some hidden fire in the walls along with ventilation, overhaul, and clean up. Engine 72 returned home at 1300 hours. The cause of the fire was determined to be a lithium ion battery on charge. 1 patient was evaluated on scene by HCES.
At 0453 hours on Saturday August 6th, Engine 71 was alerted to assist Philippi, Belington, and Junior VFDs with a Strucure Fire on Glade Avenue in Philippi. Engine 42 arrived on scene with a Working Fire in a single-story dwelling and began an interior attack. Engine 71 responded with 2 personnel and assisted interior crews with extensive overhaul finding several pockets of hidden fire and clean up. 71 returned home at 0730 hours.
At 1045 hours on Saturday, Company 11 (Spelter VFD), Engines 101 (Shinnston VFD), 41 (Lumberport VFD), and 71 along with HCES were alerted for a Structure Fire on O Field Drive near Spelter. Engine 71 staffed with 5 personnel responded in 3 minutes. Engine 102 arrived on scene with a Working Fire to find a single wide trailer with heavy smoke showing. Crews advanced a 1 3/4” cross lay making an aggressive interior attack. Engine 71 arrived as 4th due and sent crews interior for extensive overhaul and clean up before returning home just before noon. 1 patient was evaluated on scene by HCES. Boothsville VFD Engine 155 transferred to Co. 11.
This brings us to a total of 25 working fires for 2022. As of this posting, we have responded to 7 calls for service on Saturday.
