It is with GREAT pride that the Officers and Members of the Nutter Fort Fire Department announce that the department’s grant application for the 2017 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program has been approved for award. This grant was written in order to replace the department’s aging SCBAs (self-contained breathing apparatus or air packs), which were fast approaching the date of not meeting the NFPA standard, thus making this replacement instrumental to our firefighters’ safety. A firefighter’s SCBA is one of the critical pieces of personal protective equipment worn by firefighters when responding to any incident where breathable air is needed in a location that is immediately dangerous to life or health. Replacement cost of these items has increased over the years, so seeking outside funding sources, such as grants, was imperative in order to replace the entire set of aging equipment. The department would like to thank grant writer Kathy Murdock of Grant Source Professionals for the successful writing of the grant application. Additionally, we also want to thank the community for your continued support of the Nutter Fort Fire Department!
