Long post alert:

Approximately 3 years ago, our Engine 72, that was equipped with a 50 foot telesquirt, failed the required annual ladder testing. What does this mean? Every aspect of our firefighting equipment is required to be tested every year. This includes our hoses, SCBAs, fire pumps, and both ground and aerial ladders. If any of these fail testing, the failed item(s)/section(s) must be removed from service and either repaired or replaced. With Engine 72 being a 1992 model and the actual manufacturer of the telesquirt out of business, the cost of fixing the unit would be astronomical and we would still be left operating a 1992 piece of fire apparatus. From this point on, we diligently began looking for options to replace Engine 72.

Now fast forward to 2021, after much research, specing, and crunching numbers, we are proud to announce that we have signed the contract for a 2021 Pierce Enforcer 107’ Ascendant Aerial Ladder. This new truck will offer many more features and safety than our previous unit did and will last us for decades to come. We want to extend our thanks and appreciation to our salesman Paul Jordan of Atlantic Emergency Solutions (formerly Finley Fire Equipment) for his dedication and help with this project since the beginning and BC Bank for their help on securing financing. “Truck 7” is expected to be placed in service in early 2022 as it is currently in production. Some of the specifications/features include:

-Pierce Enforcer Chassis
-107 foot aerial ladder w/Prepiped Waterway
-OAL: 39’ 4.5”, OAH: 11’ 9”
-19” Extended and Painted Steel Bumper
-TAK 4 Front Suspension
-Detroit Diesel 505 HP Motor
-Allison Automatic Transmission
-6 man cab w/5 SCBA seats
-1500 gpm Waterous Pump
-500 gallon water tank
-LED scene lighting
-Whelen Emergency Lighting
-Hi-Viz FT-B-72 LED Visor Light
-Roto Ray
-118’ of ground ladders (35’ extension, 24’ extension, 16’ roof ladder x 2, 10’ folding attic ladder, 17’ Little Giant)
-Hurst eDraulic Rescue tools
-Thermal Imaging Camera

This milestone for us would not be possible if it wasn’t for the continued support of the members of the communities we serve with your monetary contributions from our annual fund drive and Ultimate Giveaway. We also want to thank the Town of Nutter Fort with continuing to support us through yearly budget allowances. We look forward to serving the citizens of our coverage area and beyond with our new state of the art piece of equipment.
